Farasha

Farasha — butterfly. A resin butterfly worked in gold leaf, crushed glass and pearls.

An original one-of-one piece, made by hand in my studio in Houston, Texas.

About this piece

Farasha is the Arabic word for butterfly, and the material choices are doing the storytelling here. Crushed glass and pearl catch light at different angles, so the piece genuinely changes through the day — sharper in the morning, warmer under lamplight in the evening. Gold leaf holds it together.

At 30 by 40 inches this is an approachable size: substantial enough to be the focus of a wall, contained enough for a bedroom, dining room or a smaller living space.

Dust gently with a dry, soft cloth. Keep out of direct sunlight, which can dull a resin surface over time.
