Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Sarwat Art ("I", "me", "my") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from sarwatart.com.

Information I collect

When you visit the site, information is automatically collected about your device: your browser type, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies installed on your device. As you browse, information is also collected about the individual pages you view, the websites or search terms that referred you, and how you interact with the site.

When you make a purchase, I collect the information you provide: your name, billing and shipping address, payment information, email address, and phone number. This is your Order Information.

Payment card details are processed directly by Shopify's payment providers and any wallets you choose to use, such as Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. I never see or store your full card number.

How I use your information

I use your Order Information to:

  • Fulfil your order and ship your painting

  • Send you order confirmations, tracking numbers, and shipping updates

  • Screen orders for potential fraud

  • Reply to you when you contact me

  • Send you marketing about new work and exhibitions, only if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time from the link in any email

I use the automatically collected information to keep the site working properly, to spot fraud, and to understand which pieces visitors are drawn to so I can improve the site.

Advertising and tracking technologies

This site uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, including a Meta (Facebook) pixel.

The Meta pixel records actions you take on this site — for example viewing a painting, adding one to your cart, beginning checkout, or completing a purchase — and shares that information with Meta Platforms, Inc. This allows me to:

  • Understand which of my Facebook and Instagram posts and adverts actually lead to interest in my work

  • Show adverts to people who have previously visited this site

  • Show adverts to people whose interests resemble those of my existing visitors

Advanced matching is enabled. This means that when you provide information at checkout — such as your email address, phone number, name, or location — a scrambled, unreadable version of that information may be sent to Meta so it can match the activity to an account. The information is hashed before it leaves this site: Meta receives a code, not your readable email address or phone number.

You can control this:

  • Opt out of Meta's interest-based advertising in your Facebook ad settings and Instagram ad settings

  • Opt out of interest-based advertising across many companies at the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of this site may then not work properly

  • Enable "Do Not Track" in your browser, though there is currently no agreed standard for how sites must respond to it

Who I share your information with

  • Shopify — this store runs on Shopify, which hosts the site and processes orders. You can read Shopify's privacy policy.

  • Payment processors — Shopify Payments, PayPal, and any wallet you choose, to take your payment securely.

  • Shipping carriers — your name, address, and phone number, so your painting can be delivered.

  • Meta Platforms — website activity as described above, for advertising and measurement.

  • Law enforcement or regulators — where I am legally required to, or to protect my legal rights.

I do not sell your personal information.

Your rights

You have the right to ask me to:

  • Tell you what personal information I hold about you

  • Correct anything that is wrong

  • Delete your personal information, unless I am legally required to keep it (for example, tax records for a sale)

  • Stop sending you marketing

  • Receive a copy of your information in a portable format

To exercise any of these, email info@sarwatart.live. I will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: I process your information to fulfil the contract of your purchase, to comply with legal obligations, and where I have a legitimate interest in running and improving my business — and, for marketing and advertising cookies, on the basis of your consent. Your information may be transferred outside Europe, including to the United States, where Shopify and Meta operate. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident: you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Children

This site is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

How long I keep your information

Order records are kept for as long as required for tax, accounting, and warranty purposes — generally seven years. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe.

Changes

I may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to my practices or for legal reasons. The version on this page is always the current one.
